A body found in Mississippi is believed to be a Southern University student who was reported missing a week earlier, West Feliciana Sheriff Brian Spillman said Wednesday.

Family members reported Steven Harris IV, 20, of St. Francisville, missing on July 17 after they were unable to reach his cell phone. Harris was scheduled to be in court for a custody hearing of his child but did not show up, Spillman said.

A body believed to be Harris was found in Woodville, Mississippi by the Wilkinson County Sheriff's Office. The identity of the body has not been positively confirmed, but Spillman said clothing and other information gathered at the scene gave law enforcement "a strong indication" it was Harris.

Spillman declined to comment on the possibility of foul play. The Wilkinson County Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Harris graduated from West Feliciana High School and was a member of the Southern University Human Jukebox Marching Band, according to Spillman.
